Programs for Adults

The American Lung Association of Connecticut offers the following programs for adults:

Freedom From Smoking® Clinics: Adult smoking cessation programs are offered for individuals interested in group support or a self-guide. For more information,  click here.

Freedom From Smoking® Self-Help Guide: Based on our Freedom From Smoking® clinic program, this smoking cessation guide is available for those who do not have access to a clinic due to location or scheduling conflicts. An added benefit is that the guide can be used multiple times. Data indicates that the average smoker must make five serious quit attempts before finally kicking the habit for good. The important thing is to keep trying! The 46-page, full color guide is available from our office at a cost of $10, including tax and shipping. The guide references the most recent advances in quitting techniques, including the nicotine patch and gum. Click here for an order form.

Better Breathing Clubs & Newsletter: Clubs provide educational and emotional support for persons with chronic lung disease and their families. There are 23 Better Breathing Clubs around the state. Click here for club listings. A quarterly newsletter, the Better Breathing Bulletin, is published for patients with lung disease. Please call our office at 1-800-LUNG USA (within Connecticut) to receive this free information.

Flu Shots: A toll-free Flu Hotline manned by volunteers is available to Connecticut residents during October through December for information about flu and flu clinic locations. To volunteer, please call or email Pam Nixon at 860-289-5401, Ext. 238. For clinic information, call 1-888-NO TO FLU weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the months of October through December.

Click here for more information on the flu.

Tuberculosis Information: The American Lung Association of Connecticut offers a variety of educational materials including a video library on tuberculosis to health professionals and the general public. TB Skin Testing Workshops are offered regularly. For more information, please call Pam Nixon at 1-800-LUNG USA or 1-860-289-5401 Ext. 238 or email.
